Since it was founded in ancient times by colonists from Greece, Castiglione di Sicilia is always remained there, set on a rock to watch over the Alcantara Valley.

It is precisely from the river, which represented the road that led inland from the coast, that we will begin our path. Here the lava gorges carved by the water have formed a unique and particular river landscape. Next to it stands Byzantine Cuba, which represents the monument of the best-preserved Byzantine period in Sicily. After visiting Cuba we will enter the river for a refreshing river trekking in the waters that in summer become low, docile, and easily passable. We will relax in the shade of the vegetation.

Leaving the river bed we will dive into the wine landscape: we are in the land par excellence of Etna wines, and the vineyards form landscapes with geometric shapes of great suggestion, we will know the particular history of this wine area, and walking a little longer we will reach the place where we will have lunch and one will be served a tasting of oil and local products.

A short but intense climb that will lead us to the historic center di Castiglione di Sicilia, included in the list of the most beautiful villages in Italy, which still retains well-preserved medieval urban fabric where we will walk among monuments from which you can enjoy views over the Alcantara valley and Mount Etna, up to the medieval castle where we will do one tasting.

After satisfying the eyes and palate we will walk an ancient path immersed in a beautiful Mediterranean forest that will lead us back to the beginning of our journey.

A wonderful day among nature, history, art, and culture!
