The western side of the volcano was affected by an unusual effusive and eruptive activity, manifested in two different periods interspersed with twenty-two days of calm. The January-March 1974 eruption characterized by two distinct eruptive phases: January 30th – February 17th and March 11th -29th, respectively 17 and 18 days; in the 22 days from February 17th to March 10th complete eruptive calm.

Geo-naturalistic excursion, from Piano Fiera (square in front of Monte Intraleo), through the provincial Adrano-Monte S. Leo, from here we start on foot from the track that climbs from the Nespole Mountains, Monte Leporello, turn left in the direction of Monte Capra and Monte Rosso, where a marked path leads to Monti De Fiore.
