The Ways Of Treasures: Villages Of the Treasures Fest

August 20 - September 4

Locandina la via dei tesori

Naro among the Borghi dei Tesori, return to the “very bright” loved by Frederick II.

It is dotted with churches and monasteries, noble palaces and convents, in an intertwining of stories, cultures and religions of which the Mother Church, once a mosque, is a symbol. Naro, cradle of the Baroque, but also the “very bright” loved by Frederick II, joins the forty municipalities of Borghi dei Tesori Fest, which returns with the second edition, on weekends from 20 August to 4 September.

Three weekends of visits, walks and experiences that will reveal the many hidden treasures of the Agrigento village. Starting from the Chiaramontano Castle, which together with the Golden Gate (from which the wagons carrying the grain entered) and the traces of fortified walls, constitutes the heart of medieval Naro. But upon entering the convent of San Francesco, you will also discover a library of twenty thousand precious volumes, including a polyglot Bible in eight languages.

While in Palazzo Malfitano, seat of the civic museum, the surprising collection of graphic art is kept, with 244 works for the most part donated by master Bruno Caruso, honorary citizen of Naro. Nine original etchings are also exhibited, made between the 1600s and 1800s, by artists such as Ulisse Aldovrandi, Rembrandt, the Dutch Hondius, Goya and Gustave Dorè.

This is just a taste of what Naro has to offer.

You will discover the rest soon, taking a look at the complete program, which will soon be online on our website www.leviedeitesori.it, together with that of all the other villages.
