From the Castle to the pumice passing by the Aeolian Museum
Buy now »
Once landed in Lipari, next to the port you can immediately see the Castle built on top of a dome of Rio-lithic lava to defend the whole island. On the opposite side Marina Corta, a sunny square on the sea that looks like an elegant city lounge. At the top of the acropolis stands the cathedral dedicated to San Bartolomeo, patron saint of the island to whom stories of miracles and devotion are told. All around there is one of the most beautiful Sicilian museums, the Aeolian archaeological museum (recommended for families with children, thanks to the particular finds preserved there). Lunch break. Afterward the tour of the island begins with a first glance from above to the city center and continues towards Quattrocchi: we will discover together the reason for this name; we will pass by the kaolin quarries until we reach Quattropani, with its viewpoint nestled between prickly pears and bougainvillea. We will go down to Acquacalda and go up to Monte Pilato to the famous pumice quarries with particular geology and morphology. Stop in Canneto with a view of Panarea and Stromboli, and the possibility of swimming (free beach and equipped beach). Return to Lipari through Monte Rosa
