The Madonie Park is a protected natural area of about 40,000 hectares that includes fifteen municipalities of the metropolitan city of Palermo, falling within the territory of the Madonie mountain massif, located on the northern Sicilian coast. The park is home to over half of the Sicilian plant species and in particular most of those present only in Sicily (such as the Abies nebrodensis in Vallone Madonna degli Angeli). For the fauna, there are more than half of the bird species, all the mammal species, and more than half of the Sicilian invertebrate species. The geological emergencies are also noteworthy, so much so that the Madonie Park has become part of the European Geopark network. Numerous paths of varying difficulty cross the Park territory, allowing tourists and hikers to discover its treasures and naturalistic and landscape peculiarities.
