Etna Up & Down

Etna Up & Down

Etna Up & Down

From the Faraglioni of Aci Trezza to the summit craters and back

Buy now »

Riding the special available mountain bikes, we will leave at dawn from the coast of Acitrezza, greeting the Faraglioni and taking our bikes to the top of the Etna volcano. The first 20 km approx. will be needed to climb up to an altitude of 700m above sea level and reach the city of Nicolosi where we will stop for a short break. After taking a breath and having breakfast we will get back on our bikes to start the climb towards 2000m above sea level (18km c.a. on asphalt) and reach the Sapienza refuge. There will be a second stop, breakfast, the use of services, and the supply of provisions, drinks, and food.
Once the asphalted path is finished we will resume the climb, this time entirely on lava sand. This path will lead us to about 3000 m asl, as a new lava flow has interrupted the connections with the central crater.
We will take a break at the top of the Barbagallo craters for about 30-60 minutes to appreciate the unique scenery and see the whole Ionian coast of Sicily. We will take some photos or even make some direct videos to involve our friends and followers. After the stop, we will get back on our bikes to freeride about 1000m. Then we will return to the starting point by choosing the most suitable on-off road route according to the participants.
So, are you ready to dream?
